Pilot project of the R+V Company Health Insurance
Digital Blood Pressure Pass for Insured Persons
High blood pressure is one of the most common and unfortunately also one of the most dangerous health conditions worldwide. However, with the right treatment, values can often be brought back into the normal range. Reliable data is the basis for this. Therefore, the R+V Company Health Insurance has launched a pilot project with the Schwabach provider of the digital solution BloodPressureDB: Newly registered users of various Disease Management Programs can use the premium version of the digital blood pressure pass free of charge starting mid-October thus supporting their treating physician. For high blood pressure patients, an early and individually suitable treatment is the order of the day. The values from regular self-measurements help the doctor make the right decisions. The digital blood pressure pass from BloodPressureDB takes this data foundation to a new level: The treating physician receives not only point-in-time measurement results but also meaningful diagrams and statistics. And for the user, everything runs easily via computer, mobile phone, or tablet thanks to the user-friendly app. The R+V Company Health Insurance wants to offer this advantage to its insured persons in a pilot project. The health insurance company hopes to gain additional experience with digital offerings within the framework of preventive programs.
Initially, newly registered participants of various Disease Management Programs of the R+V BKK can use the offer. They download the digital blood pressure pass via the respective app store and activate the premium version for participation in the pilot project using a code valid until the end of 2018. All data can then be conveniently documented via the corresponding device, such as blood pressure, pulse, and other parameters. The content available to users is all professionally verified. Personal data is protected. Third parties, including the health insurance company, do not have access to it. After the pilot project is completed, the cooperation partners will decide whether the digital blood pressure pass will be promoted to all insured persons thus creating a broader basis for the prevention of high blood pressure diseases and their treatment.

Horst Klier developed the portal bloodpressuredb.com in 2009 initially for personal use as an affected high blood pressure patient. In 2011, the apps for smartphones followed. The use was and is free of charge but was early on supported by voluntary donations. From this, BloodPressureDB then developed a subscription model with premium features.
