COVID-19: Avoid unnecessary doctor visits
Help for hypertension patients
Routine check-ups are vital for hypertension patients. In times when the healthcare system is stretched to its limits, non-urgent doctor or hospital visits should be avoided, especially since hypertension patients belong to the COVID-19 risk group. The BloodPressureDB app provides a solution here now available for free during emergencies! The rapid spread of the COVID-19 virus in almost all European countries is leading to dramatic situations, especially in the healthcare system. While it is already collapsing in Italy, other countries are trying to prevent similar horror scenarios in medical care. Everyone can help by refraining from non-urgent consultations with doctors.
Help for hypertension patients
But what about hypertension patients who can be in great danger without proper blood pressure management, monitoring, and medication and who also belong to the COVID-19 risk group? Experts recommend the use of telemonitoring, i.e., remote monitoring of blood pressure.
The BloodPressureDB app, developed in Germany in 2011 for such purposes, is already very helpful in its free version. However, the operators have now decided to make all premium features available for free accounts for the duration of the emergency measures.
Premium app free during the crisis
The app can be downloaded for free from the Apple and Google app stores. A direct connection with blood pressure measuring devices via Bluetooth is also possible.
With the BloodPressureDB app, measurements can be recorded, values entered, individual overviews created, medication monitored, and supplies calculated. The PDF evaluations with statistics and charts can be sent to the doctor via email or printed out.
SciTIM® integration relieves doctors
The platform SciTIM®, developed in collaboration with the German Hypertension League, is integrated into the BloodPressureDB app. Measurement and vital values are transmitted directly from the app to the respective practice software. This means less effort for doctors in monitoring and managing the data sent by patients via the app. Through the application of the interventional decentralized blood pressure telemonitoring idTM®, the doctor also has the opportunity to interact directly with the patient via the software in case of abnormalities, such as changing the medication or ordering other measures.
With the BloodPressureDB app, hypertension patients and doctors keep important values in view, spare themselves and others the risk of infection, and help to keep urgently needed capacities in the healthcare sector available.
Simply download the app and register. Every free account will be automatically upgraded to premium features: bloodpressuredb.com

Horst Klier developed the portal bloodpressuredb.com in 2009 initially for personal use as an affected hypertension patient. In 2011, the apps for smartphones followed. The use was and is free, but was early on supported by voluntary donations. From this, BloodPressureDB then developed a subscription model with premium features. During the COVID-19 crisis, users can also use the premium features for free.
