Easily record and evaluate your own blood pressure values anywhereWhether on the web or as an app on your smartphone - the site „BloodPressureDB.de“ offers the solution for all hypertension patients. Anyone at risk of high blood pressure can now comfortably and free of charge enter and analyze their own data at any time. While measuring devices for private use quickly and easily determine the values, documentation and evaluation have until now been cumbersome with paper or spreadsheets.
In Germany alone, according to the „Green Cross“, around 12 million people are affected by high blood pressure. The consequences, especially heart attack and stroke, are among the most feared causes of death. Therefore, it is essential for this patient group to continuously monitor and evaluate their own blood pressure data. Until now, blood pressure devices for measurement and either paper and pencil or a spreadsheet were available for this purpose.
Horst Klier, operator of the website „BloodPressureDB.de“, who, as a former hypertension patient, still regularly measures his values, found the evaluation in paper form and even as a spreadsheet too uncomfortable. Therefore, the IT specialist took matters into his own hands and quickly developed a data collection and evaluation software for blood pressure values. The application is developed with HTML5 and Javascript and is thus available on modern browsers on the internet. For on-the-go use, there is an app for mobile devices such as Android smartphones or the iPhone. The determined blood pressure values can not only be quickly recorded but also immediately evaluated. The cloud infrastructure allows access to the stored data from anywhere. Using both the mobile app and the browser is therefore no problem. „I have been programming internet applications for 15 years. It was only natural to develop an online database for this task as well. I wanted a solution that is flexible, easy to use, and above all free of charge. The evaluations are meaningful and greatly facilitate the doctor's work“, explains Horst Klier his intention.
At www.BloodPressureDB.de, anyone interested can register completely free of charge. For data protection reasons, no personal data is collected. A self-defined username and an email address are sufficient for registration. After logging in, values can be recorded down to the minute at any time and queried in the form of charts or statistics. The systolic and diastolic blood pressure, pulse, and a comment are recorded. Upon request, a detailed evaluation can be obtained as a PDF, which can be presented to the attending physician. It is even possible to import values that have been recorded in spreadsheets so far.
