High blood pressure is becoming an increasingly common health problem. If it isn't detected and treated in time, it can lead to serious health consequences.

The free mobile app "BloodPressureDB" helps you monitor your blood pressure regularly. The app by Horst Klier records systolic and diastolic blood pressure together with the current pulse. Entries are saved with a date and time stamp.

If desired, users can also log additional vital signs, including weight, blood sugar, body temperature and fluid balance (especially useful for people with chronic kidney disease, e.g. after a transplant).

From these values the app can also generate a colorful line chart. To share with a doctor, the data and the chart can be exported as a PDF. Printed out, the report of recorded readings can be taken to a doctor's appointment.

Unique: "BloodPressureDB" is available for many mobile systems. The new 5.0 version is already available for Android, Amazon Kindle and Windows Phone. The universal app for iPhone and iPad is also ready. Further updates for Windows RT/8 and Firefox OS will follow shortly.

After a short registration, the app will also happily sync data between platforms and can even display it on the website so it can be viewed on any desktop computer.

"BloodPressureDB" 5.0: Many new modules
The new and still completely free 5.0 version expands "BloodPressureDB" with many high-quality modules:

- Medication management: If you take medications to control blood pressure, you can now enter them in the app. A display always shows how long your supply will last.

- Blood pressure glossary: There are many useful facts about blood pressure worth knowing. The new glossary explains key terms and provides the most important facts for quick reference.

- Blood pressure calculator: This module evaluates your blood pressure and classifies it according to WHO/Hypertension League guidelines. That way every user can see how their blood pressure is rated.

- Body Mass Index calculator: Enter weight and height and the app calculates your Body Mass Index. Thats important because being overweight increases the risk of high blood pressure. The BMI can also be shown in a 3D view.

- Salt calculator: Too much salt in food can also raise blood pressure. The new salt calculator estimates the salt content in ready meals and mineral water.
