The pharmaceutical company Puren Pharma GmbH & Co. KG is recalling several batches of Candesartan. The reason for the recall is a faulty labeling of the folding boxes. The affected medications Candesartan-comp Puren 32 mg/25 mg, 98 tablets, Candesartan-comp Puren 32 mg/12.5 mg, 98 tablets have the correct strength indicated on the blisters, but a different strength is printed on the box. This may result in the intake of 25 mg Hydrochlorothiazide instead of 12.5 mg Hydrochlorothiazide, which can lead to a stronger blood pressure reduction and increased diuresis.
Update 15.05.: The recall has now been extended to all batches
If you are taking these medications, please return the packages to your pharmacy.
A batch of Camlostar is also being recalled by Aristo Pharma GmbH due to incorrect labeling. In the medication Camlostar 8 mg/10 mg, one of the red side surfaces in Braille indicates 8mg/5mg instead of 8mg/10mg. It contains hard capsules with the strength 8mg/10mg. The labels on the other sides as well as on the blisters are correct. The first delivery of the affected packages took place on 29.03.19
Affected batch:

13.01.2016: There is a problem delivering email to Web.de/GMX. We currently cannot deliver emails to recipients with mail accounts at these services. The error is on Web.de/GMX's side, the administrators have been informed and we expect a quick fix. Unfortunately we also can't answer support requests because the replies won't reach the recipients. Not only our emails are affected; many other providers are likely having the same difficulties.
Update 18:00: The problem has been fixed.
07.01.2016: During the Android update there was a bug that caused the app to close immediately on start for some users. Unfortunately it took almost 3 days until a corrected version was available in the Play Store. The bug only occurred under certain conditions and only during updates, which we were able to identify only with great effort.
We apologize for the inconvenience.
04.01.2016: The update to the new version 5.63 is now available for Android in the Google Play Store. The iOS version will follow in about 23 weeks. We have no control over how long Apple's review takes.
27.12.2015: Lidl currently offers the upper-arm blood pressure monitor Sanitas SBM 67 with Bluetooth, which is supported by BloodPressureDB. At 22.99 (plus shipping) it's very cheap. Thanks to our beta testers who pointed this out.
16.12.2015: The upcoming version 5.6 will make data import easier in many ways.
The highlight is surely the direct connection of blood pressure monitors with Bluetooth. Devices that use the general Bluetooth Smart standard can send readings directly to the app. A suitable monitor is required and your smartphone or tablet must also support the technology. Not all Bluetooth monitors are compatible. Suitable devices include, for example, the Connect series from Medisana and the Beurer BM85.
If you have a Withings device and collect data in the Withings cloud, you can use direct data import. Import from Vitadock is also possible. That's Medisana's cloud.
If you have a device that transmits data to a PC, you can usually export the data there. We have extended our import and adapted it so that data from Omron and Tensoval can be read in.
The import is already available in the web version. The app is available as a beta for Android. If you're interested, just email beta@bloodpressuredb.com and you'll receive the link to the APK.
11.12.2015: The news section is being rebuilt.
18.09.2014: To improve our support we have created a list of frequently asked questions and their answers.
23.07.2014: We slightly optimized the display in case there were gaps when recording values. The new display is first activated only in the browser version and in the PDF. Most users will not notice anything. We welcome feedback.
07.06.2014: Just in time for Pentecost version 5.11 has now also arrived in the Apple App Store. The version with measurement location statistics is now available on all supported platforms.
06.06.2014: What do you think about health apps? Where do you see opportunities, risks and potential? Share your experiences, opinions and expectations in the European decisionmaking process. The European Commission is holding a discussion with experts about shaping the future framework for m-health until July 3. The results of the GAPP online survey will feed into this process. The GAPP online survey runs until 30.06.2014.
04.06.2014: In the NDR program Visite on May 27 the importance of measuring blood pressure on both arms was highlighted. We have supported entering the measurement location for a long time. Now there is also a statistic by measurement location to make pressure differences easier to see. The apps will receive a small update in the next few days.
14.05.2014: The Windows Store version (for Windows 8 and Windows RT) has now also been released.
12.05.2014: The new version is now also} in the Apple App Store and the Windows Phone App Store. We would especially appreciate new reviews in the Apple App Store.
07.05.2014: Due to maintenance work, all servers will be unreachable for about 1 minute during the night from Thursday to Friday. We appreciate your understanding.
06.05.2014: The new Android version is on its way to the Play Store. With Apple it usually takes a few more days because the app still has to go through manual review.
10.04.2014: The new app version is finished and in beta testing. If you have an Android device and want to help test, please contact beta@bloodpressuredb.com. In addition to medication management and a brand-new design, there are some extras. The Glossary from the website is now included, as well as the blood pressure, salt-intake and BMI calculators. Despite this, the app is smaller than before so it still starts as quickly as possible.
04.04.2014: Thank you for the many responses. The medication entry has been revised based on your feedback. It's now possible to enter simple schedules like morning-noon-evening-night, and you can also set doses for every two days or on a weekly schedule.
21.03.1024: The web version now includes medication management. You can enter your medication stock so you can see how long your medicines will last. That makes planning the next doctor's visit easier. We welcome your feedback. The feature will be added to the app soon.
26.02.2014: Stiftung Warentest reviewed the iHealth blood pressure monitor. Read the report here. The paragraph below refers to Stiftung Warentest's last test of blood pressure monitors. We have summarized the results here.
06.02.2014: Finally, the version for Samsung devices with Android 4.0.4 is available. It unfortunately took quite a while to get a suitable device that actually showed the error. Thanks also to the testers who checked it on their devices in advance. The version is also better adapted for small screens with only 240 pixels width. Since the first Android watches have displays this small, this is quite interesting. A few other minor fixes and improvements round off the update. It's already been uploaded to the Play Store.
03.02.2014: Connecting blood pressure monitors with wireless interfaces (Bluetooth) is proving difficult. We have a device from a Chinese manufacturer that we could address with the manufacturer's own protocol. However, that doesn't help much because the device can't (yet) be bought anywhere. iHealth offers a Bluetooth device that can be ordered easily. But iHealth doesn't want us to communicate with it directly. Reading data is only possible via the cloud, which means you still have to use the iHealth app. On the bright side, the first modern devices with an open interface are appearing. Samsung already lists two devices for its S Health concept. One of them is at least orderable in the USA. We hope something will arrive in Europe soon.
02.01.2014: Maintenance work will be carried out on one of our servers during the night of January 910. There may be short outages. If you urgently need a PDF report for a doctor's visit, please plan accordingly.
01.01.2014: We wish all users a happy New Year and good health!
30.12.2013: The Android version still has a problem with Samsung Android 4.0 devices, but the version was released anyway. We're actively searching internet auction sites for a suitable device to reproduce and fix the error. Thanks to Christmas, many old phones have become unwanted housemates, which raises our hopes of finding one soon. In any case, we wish you a great start to the New Year.
23.12.2013: The ITU has approved a standard for communication between medical devices. This will make it possible in the future to read data from measuring devices in a standardized way. We welcome this. You can read the English press release here.
21.12.2013: The Firefox OS app was chosen as an editor's pick by Mozilla and is currently featured on the Firefox Marketplace front page. \o/
19.12.2013: In the Apple version there was a problem with entering glucose values using the pickers. That's been fixed and the update has been available since yesterday. The new version is also now available for Windows 8/RT and Firefox OS in their stores. The Windows Phone update is with Microsoft for review. The Windows Store version was initially rejected because it was said to allow unrestricted access to social networks and would therefore need an age restriction. They showed us the PDF requirements form as screenshot "evidence." We have no idea what Microsoft meant by that. We resubmitted with the explanation that a PDF is not a social network. That went throughMicrosoft is pretty quick with the Windows Store. The Android update is still pending. We're still working on the Samsung issue and, without our own device, have to rely on users for help. Our thanks go to Mr. Müller, who has already tested several versions for us and even helped with a video that made troubleshooting easier.
14.12.2013: The new version has been in the Apple App Store for a few days. There are problems on Android with Samsung devices running Android 4.0.4. We have a possible solution but no device to test it on. It's not easy to find a suitable device, also because an existing Samsung Android version can't be downgraded to the lower version. You wouldn't believe how many Samsung Android phones I've had in my hands in the past few days to check the OS version. Fortunately our users are great and always support us. There was also a keyboard issue on Android 2.x, mainly on HTC devices. This has been fixed and tested. Once the other issue is resolved, the update will be released.
06.12.2013: The new version is out. It's already been released for Android. According to initial comments, it caused problems on Samsung devices. That's odd, because none of our beta testers with Samsung devices reported this. On the other hand, Samsung has always been a bit special. As a quick fix, a version was pushed out that uses the old page system on Samsung devices. Update 8.12.: Due to the many reports, the old system will be used again for all Android devices; also the most recent individual values are now always shown immediately
27.11.2013: People with high blood pressure should watch their salt intake. But some types of pills also contain a lot of sodium chloride, which can already exceed the recommended daily allowance. More information in the article at bild der wissenschaft.
24.11.2013: As we've just noticed, Google made a change in Android 4.4 (KitKat) that causes data loss during the update. If you use the app on a device with the previous version and then update to 4.4, you will lose all values and settings. This is only tragic if the app is used without registration. If you use the app with registration, just re-enter your username and password. We display a corresponding warning in the app. Nexus device users are most affected, because so far only Nexus devices have received this update. We show the warning on all Android devices because we can't predict when or if each manufacturer will offer an update.
PS: If anyone does experience data loss, we can work with the user to restore the data. Please contact Support. Update: According to user feedback there are no problems. We were able to reproduce the behavior on our test devices, so the warning will remain.
23.11.2013: Deutschlandradio Kultur reports on the new guidelines for treating high blood pressure. To the report.
22.11.2013: We have received an upper-arm blood pressure monitor with a Bluetooth interface directly from China and are working on direct integration into the app. The device is not yet commercially available; however, thanks to the new "Smart ready" Bluetooth standard we expect several such devices in 2014 and want to adapt the app early.
18.11.2013: We have a release candidate for version 4.5. Android users who want to test it in advance should email beta@bloodpressuredb.com.
29.08.2013: You can see BloodPressureDB at the IFA in Berlin from September 611. We'll be at the Deutsche Telekom booth in Hall 6.2 in the app bar.
14.08.2013: The app is now also available for Firefox OS. You can download it from the Firefox Marketplace.
06.08.2013: We are now officially allowed to carry the "HealthOn Code of Honor for Trustworthy Health Information in Apps" seal. Apps awarded this seal must meet a number of conditions to ensure that patients can trust the app's content. Many thanks to Dr. Ursula Kramer for the good cooperation.26.07.2013: The Windows 8 app is now available. Get it in the Windows App Store.
19.07.2013: The Windows Phone version of the app has finally been released. It can be downloaded from the Windows Phone Store.
10.07.2013: The European Society of Hypertension has published new guidelines for treating high blood pressure. They can be downloaded as a 77-page English PDF from the ESH homepage. The guidelines consider patients' home measurements more important than before, since single measurements in the doctor's office don't fully reflect patients' lives. We welcome this, as BloodPressureDB specifically supports these self-measurements.
08.06.2013: As announced, the server infrastructure was expanded today. We used the low traffic thanks to the nice weather at 1:00 PM to make the switch. The outage lasted only about 15 minutes.
01.06.2013: The new 4.x versions of the app are available. For Android they have been available for 2 weeks, and now for iOS as well. Offline use, which many users requested, is now possible. We hope to finish the first Windows Phone version in June. A server expansion is planned in the coming days.
30.04.2013: All texts in the glossary were medically reviewed by Dr. Chris Wollenberg and are up to date.
18.04.2013: We've been working for some time on an app version that can be used without an internet connection. This is now available as a beta. Unfortunately only for Android, because installing betas on Apple is not possible. If you have an Android device and would like to test the new version in advance, please contact beta@bloodpressuredb.com (beta phase ended, please do not contact anymore).
01.11.2012: The generation of PDF reports has been switched to a new technology. The files are now much smaller and at the same time sharper.
18.10.2012: The Android update seems to have caused a massive increase in access numbers. The server capacity was no longer sufficient. After initial emergency measures the service is reachable again, but there are still intermittent outages. We apologize for that. Update: It was made worse by an app function that retried access very frequently during network problems. That's why there was a quick follow-up update to the Android app.
16.10.2012: The small update 3.1 is available in the web app and for Android. It was supposed to be released at the same time as the iOS version, but Apple is causing delays with approval. We didn't want to wait any longer. The iOS version will be released when Apple approves it. There's now also a "Premium membership".
10.08.2012: Version 3.0 is here! The new version of BloodPressureDB was developed with the German Kidney Association (Bundesverband Niere e.V.), to whom we would like to say thank you for the great cooperation. All details about the new version are in our press release.
09.08.2012: As so often happens, there were still issues after the move. Moving the domain bloodpressuredb.com takes time because the new address has to "propagate" across the internet. The automatic redirect that is active during this time unfortunately encodes spaces and umlauts. This morning users with spaces or umlauts in their addresses could not log in. Only the apps were affected. We apologize to those affected} .
08.08.02012: At 11:00 PM we moved to a new server. There was a short outage that probably few people noticed.
02.07.2012: This morning there was a server problem, so the service was unavailable from about 8:45 AM to 10:00 AM. After the issue was fixed, all databases had to be checked and some clean-up work had to be done. That caused a sizable queue of PDF reports to build up, which took several hours to process. As a result, delivery of some PDF reports was delayed significantly. We apologize for the inconvenience.
05.04.2012: Stiftung Warentest examined the salt content of 74 products in the current issue. This is quite important for people with high blood pressure, since salt intake is linked to blood pressure. Because processed foods often hide their salt content with sodium values, we've programmed a small Salt calculator. I hope you find it useful.
09.03.2012: Apple really did it. iOS 5.1 is being released, even though it brings an unpleasant change. Until now apps using a WebView could store data in the so-called LocalStorage. That's exactly what it's for to store data safely. iTunes backed that up and everything was fine. With iOS 5.1 this has changed. The LocalStorage can be deleted by the operating system. It can also be cleared during an update. Until the last moment we hoped Apple would change this, because it's quite bold to suddenly delete storage that was previously considered safe. But what does that mean in practice? The BloodPressureDB app stores the login details there. After the update those are gone and have to be entered again. That's annoying, but manageable. It gets a bit more complicated if the app is used "without signing in." The data is always safely stored on the server, but the link between which data belongs to which user is made via a secret key that the server and the app exchange and that is stored in the app. If that's gone, the server won't hand the data over. Our support can help with that, but it requires some cooperation from the user. We'd like to spare you that and are therefore currently using the ad placement to warn all users. It's not ideal, but until we can update the app it's the quickest way to react.
07.03.2012: At the moment we're doing major work on the databases in the background. Unfortunately an error occurred. For users who work via the browser and have automatic login enabled, the password was encrypted one more time. Unfortunately this causes it to be recognized as invalid. Affected users can request a new password via " Forgot password". If you have any questions or problems our Support can help. The faulty function was not active for long; we suspect the number of affected users is in the single digits. Still, we apologize.
01.03.2012: Last night there was a server problem that made the service hard to reach for about an hour. The cause was likely an overload of another service on the same server. As a result, email sending also stopped at around 7:30 PM, which quickly led to several hundred pending PDF reports. Even after the restart it took some time to process everything. Some users therefore had to wait several hours for PDF reports or confirmation emails. We apologize for this issue. These short-term load spikes could be handled well today by using cloud services, but due to unresolved data protection concerns such offerings are currently not an option.
23.02.2012: We're still waiting for the overdue Android 4.0 updates for some of our test devices, but we've still released a new version to the Market. Besides fixing issues for Android ICS, we also revised the layout and now support landscape mode. That's certainly very pleasant for tablet users. Many small things were improved, but we worked hard so you notice as little as possible.
We also want to get the improved tablet support to iPad users quickly. In our experience Apple's review process is currently taking unusually long. It will probably be March before it's approved.
02.02.2012: On some Android devices with the new version 4.0 there are display problems. If anyone is affected, they can get a pre-release version from us in which the problem is fixed. It will take a little longer until the official update.
20.11.2011: The Deutsche Hochdruckliga recently awarded its coveted seal of approval to three devices. You can find them on our Monitors page.
16.11.2011: The iOS app received a top rating in issue 12/2011 of iPAD&CO: 5 out of 5 stars. Thank you, dear iPAD&CO editorial team.
04.11.2011: There's a small problem with the labeling of the chart. If the displayed period starts in daylight saving time and ends in standard time, the date is shown one day off during standard time. That's because October 30th has 25 hours. If you add 24 hours to midnight you're still on October 30th. You have to think of everything. An update is in the works. The browser version is already up to date; the apps will follow shortly.
By the way: Due to a digit mix-up yesterday a PDF report for almost 2,000 years was requested. That caused delays for other users. So we've now limited reports to 3 years. We think that's more than enough. :-)
21.10.2011: The iOS5 update was approved by Apple last night.
14.10.2011: The iOS5 update is already in Apple's review process. We unfortunately can't influence when it will be approved. We hope for a quick review. New features are not included, although we would have liked to use the new options for date and time settings. Right now, however, getting it approved quickly was more important.
13.10.2011: Unfortunately there's a problem with the iPhone app under iOS5. The input fields for new entries for date and time don't work properly. We're working on a solution and will submit an update to Apple later this week so it becomes available as soon as possible.
07.10.2011: Stiftung Warentest looked at the blood pressure monitors that can be connected directly to the iPhone. The measurement results are quite good. Read the review.
14.09.2011: We put the Panasonic EW-BW 10 through a test in our editorial office.
09.09.2011: At users' request we've slightly optimized the "Meine Daten" area for printing. If you click "Print" in your browser, some unimportant areas are no longer included in the printout. However, it still doesn't reach the quality of the PDF printout.
02.09.2011: We often received requests from users asking whether we have a PayPal donate button, because they'd like to give us a little something. We resisted for a long time. The ongoing operation of the service is already secured and who likes to "beg"? But in the end user demand convinced us to create a donation page. Please don't feel obligated. That's really not the intention. ;-)
01.09.2011: The Deutsche Hochdruckliga has redesigned its website: www.hochdruckliga.de
