Blood pressure record and blood pressure app

Around one in five adults over the age of 40 has high blood pressure. Hypertension often develops slowly and without warning signs it is usually discovered by chance. The most reliable way to detect high blood pressure is to measure it regularly.
For patients who have been diagnosed with hypertension, regular home blood pressure measurements are the most important way to control blood pressure. The risk of cardiovascular disease goes down when blood pressure is properly controlled.

Measuring and recording your blood pressure at home

There are various modern home blood pressure monitors available on the market. You can enter the values you measure into a blood pressure app or a blood pressure record. That way your blood pressure values are tracked accurately over a longer period and trends are easy to see. If you log your measurements carefully and regularly, changes and fluctuations are immediately visible to your treating physician. Your records help guide your treatment, because a single measurement taken during an exam only gives limited information about your current blood pressure situation. With the blood pressure record, your doctor can review the previous medication dosages and adjust treatment if necessary. This helps get your blood pressure under optimal control. In the blood pressure record you can also document whether you took your medication consistently, your body weight and your pulse.

BloodPressureDB App

Much more convenient and up-to-date than a paper blood pressure record is documenting your values in a blood pressure app like BloodPressureDB. Instead of paper, you enter your readings in the app or have them sent directly from a compatible blood pressure monitor via Bluetooth into the BloodPressureDB app. There they are displayed as a table and as a chart. That way you always have your data on your smartphone, even if you entered them at home on your PC in your registered user account in the web app or on your tablet. Forgetting your blood pressure record at the doctors office is no longer an issue. Even better is to bring a PDF report of your recorded data to your appointment. The course of your values and various statistics are clearly prepared there and the success of the treatment is easy to see. With a Premium membership, the PDF report can also be sent directly to the doctor.

If you still prefer to keep a written record of your blood pressure values, we have prepared a BloodPressureDB blood pressure record for you to download.

To get the most accurate readings, keep the following in mind:

Measure your blood pressure at roughly the same times each day and always on the same arm. Before you start measuring, sit quietly and relax for a few minutes. During the measurement, the cuff (or measurement site) should be at heart level. If you use a wrist monitor, pay special attention to holding your arm in the correct position. The blood pressure reading is shown as two numbers. The top number is the systolic value and the bottom number is the diastolic value. Both values should be entered into the blood pressure record after measuring. According to guidelines, two measurements should be taken, one to two minutes apart.
