Blood Pressure Pass and Blood Pressure App
At the age of over 40, about one in five adults suffers from high blood pressure. Often, hypertension develops slowly and without warning signs - usually, the elevated blood pressure is discovered by chance. The safest way to detect high blood pressure is through regular blood pressure measurements. For patients diagnosed with hypertension, regular self-measurements of blood pressure are the most important measure to control blood pressure. The risk of cardiovascular diseases decreases when blood pressure is properly regulated. Various modern measuring devices are available for self-measuring blood pressure. The self-measured values can be recorded in a blood pressure app or a blood pressure pass. This way, blood pressure values are accurately recorded over a longer period, and the progression of the values is clearly visible. If you carefully and regularly document the measurements, changes and fluctuations are immediately recognizable to the treating physician. Based on the records, you support your treatment, as a single measurement during an examination often provides limited insights into your current blood pressure situation. With the blood pressure pass, the doctor has the opportunity to review the previous medication dosage and, if necessary, adjust the therapy accordingly. This way, your blood pressure can be optimally regulated. In the blood pressure pass, you can also document the consistent intake of medications, body weight, and pulse in addition to blood pressure values.
Far more convenient and contemporary than a paper blood pressure pass is the documentation of values in a blood pressure app like BloodPressureDB. Instead of on paper, you record your measurements in the app or have them transferred directly from your compatible blood pressure measuring device via Bluetooth to the BloodPressureDB app. There, they are displayed both as a table and as a chart. This way, you always have your data on your smartphone, even if you recorded them at home on your PC in your registered user account in the web app or the app on your tablet. A forgotten blood pressure pass during a doctor's visit is no longer an issue. Even better is to take a PDF evaluation of your recorded data to the doctor's appointment. Here, the progression of the recorded values and various statistics are optimally prepared, and the success of the treatment is clearly visible. In the premium membership, the PDF evaluation can also be sent directly to the doctor.

For the correct measurement, you should consider the following:
Blood pressure should be measured at fixed times of the day and always on the same arm. Before you start measuring blood pressure, you should relax in a sitting position for a few minutes. During the measurement, the measuring point must be at heart level. When using a wrist device, attention must be paid to the correct arm position. The measured blood pressure is displayed in two values. The upper value is referred to as systolic value and the lower value as diastolic value . Both values are recorded in the blood pressure pass after measurement. According to guidelines, measurements should be taken twice at intervals of one to two minutes.
