Safety and Warning Notices

Please read these notices carefully.

General Information

BloodPressureDB does not diagnose any condition, nor can it determine a cause.

A blood pressure monitor is required to measure blood pressure. The app itself does not perform any measurements. Please refer to the instructions for the respective blood pressure monitor.

The use of the app, as well as information within the app, cannot replace a consultation with a doctor. Please follow your doctor's instructions. Contact your doctor if you have health concerns.

Make all entries and changes carefully.

Avoid third-party access to the app.

Enable automatic updates to ensure that all functions are always up-to-date and fully operational.

Exclusion

The evaluations displayed by the app are intended solely for self-management. The user cannot interpret a direct diagnosis or take medical action based on the evaluations without consulting qualified medical personnel. The displayed action recommendations are exempt from this.

The software is not intended to be used in emergency situations or to recognize them.

No use in: minors, insufficient language skills, severe visual impairment.

Internet Connection

BloodPressureDB can be operated with or without an internet connection. However, a connection is essential for some functions, such as registration or generating a PDF evaluation. If there is no internet connection, the data will be stored locally on the respective device. These will be transmitted later when an internet connection is available. Please note that locally stored data is only on your device and cannot be transmitted to, for example, your doctor without an internet connection.

Do not operate the app in offline mode if you want to transmit data to your doctor or generate PDF evaluations.

Reminder Function

BloodPressureDB offers a reminder function for measurements as well as for medication intake. The reminders can only be displayed if the app has the corresponding permission. Also, your device must not be in "Do Not Disturb" mode.
Please also define an exception for BloodPressureDB if you are using a power-saving function that closes apps. Manufacturers like Huawei and Samsung have integrated such functions, and third-party apps are available for other devices. If background operation is not permitted for BloodPressureDB, reminders cannot be displayed.

Do not rely solely on the reminder function for taking medications. This can be affected, for example, by a dead battery, a turned-off smartphone, or a crashed app.
Please also note that some devices do not adjust the times for already set reminders when switching to summer/winter time.

Bluetooth

BloodPressureDB can receive data from blood pressure monitors with Bluetooth. Please note that not all devices with Bluetooth functionality are compatible. Some devices require prior pairing, while others do not. Some devices may require initial configuration, such as setting the time. In our help article on Bluetooth transmission, we describe the procedure and necessary steps for the measuring devices we have tested with BloodPressureDB.

To receive data, not only is the activation of the Bluetooth function on your device required, but also the corresponding permission for the BloodPressureDB app. This includes permission for location access. This is a requirement of the operating systems; we do not use location information. However, without permission, the Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) interface will not function.

Medication Management

Managing medications requires care in entering and maintaining data. To use medication management effectively, please promptly record changes to your medication in the BloodPressureDB app. This can help prevent you from receiving notifications for an outdated (or obsolete) dosing schedule.

The app requires the following permissions:

  • Notifications
To display reminders for measurements or medication intakes
  • Bluetooth and Location
To receive data via BLE from a measuring device
  • Read/Write to Device Storage
    To save a PDF evaluation

If you revoke or do not grant permissions, it limits the functionality of the BloodPressureDB app.

Popup Blocker

Do not use popup blockers when using the web app. This may cause important displays to be suppressed. Also, be aware of popup blockers that are integrated directly into the browser.

Cleaner Software

Do not use cleaner software that deletes data from the browser when using the web app. This may result in data being deleted before it is transmitted to the server.
